Our Story
Olivia J Charters is family owned and operated, and offers fishing trips based out of Freeport, Texas. Captain Rodney and his crew will get you fishing the nearshore and offshore waters of the Gulf, and will work hard to ensure you have a fantastic, fun, and safe day out on the water.
Capt. Rodney started working on a charter boat at the age of 10 in the state of Maine, where he grew up living on Mouse Island with his Grandfather Lou. It was here his love for the water and boating all started.
Capt. Rodney has been a Coast Guard licensed captain since he was 18 years old. He holds a 100 ton masters license, Texas saltwater guides license, and the required National Marine Fisheries permits.
Started in 2016 Olivia J Charters grew quickly with a focus on keeping rates as affordable as possible, without sacrificing, safety or quality. Olivia J Charters was one of the if not the first in the Freeport area to offer Shared trips as well as including fuel in all of the pricing.

Capt. Rodney Chapman
Capt. Rodney with 30 plus years of fishing and boating experience will work hard to provide a great memorable day on the water. Capt. Rodney is the primary captain of Vertigo our federally permitted vessel.

Capt. Ethan Chapman
Capt. Ethan has been raised on the water. He started working as deckhand at a very young age and is now our primary Captain of the Olivia J II. Between his knowledge and work ethic, he will work hard to provide a safe and productive day on the water.

Capt. Ben has been with us from the beginning. He too has spent a lifetime on the water fishing both inshore bays and the wide open gulf waters. Ben will help show you the best of what Texas offshore fishing has to offer.

Ellie does a multitude of things mostly behind that scenes, that helps keep our business running smooth. You name it. Taking phone calls, cleaning boats, greeting folks as they disembark, or even on a rare occasion deckhand from time to time.

It is customary to name your vessel after your first born daughter. For that reason we decided to name our business after her.
